EDUCATIONAL EXPERIENCES

I began my nursing career in 2002 working as a personal support worker at a nursing home in Hanover while I was beginning my training as a Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) through Georgian College in Owen Sound, Ontario. I graduated in July of  2004 and started the Operating Room (OR) Course through Conestoga College in Kitchener in September of that year. The OR course was part time and I completed it in July 2005. This course gave me the beginning skills and knowledge to work as an RPN in the operating room. While I loved working in the operating room, I am always looking for ways to grow both personally and professionally. Therefore, in 2011 I started working toward my Bachelor of Nursing through Athabasca University and graduated in 2013. In 2016 I began the Master of Nursing, Generalist Stream program through Athabasca University. Currently, I am in my seventh course of the program and I plan to start the Infection Control course through Infection Prevention and Control (IPAC) in September of this year. In addition to obtaining my degree, I have also taken critical care courses and other nursing interest courses. As nurses, I feel it is very important to continuously look for areas of growth and improvement to keep current and relevant in a constantly changing health care environment.
